This is a static journal. It has no accounts, advertising, analytics, or visitor-facing AI tool. Public locked-writing pages show stubs only. Here is what can still be processed when you visit or write to farsalo.

Effective
farsalo is the name used by the independent operator of this experimental journal and portfolio. This policy covers the public farsalo website and explains what happens to information connected with a visit or an email.
You can reach the operator and make a privacy request at hi@farsalo.com.
Some public writing entries are locked stubs. Their titles and short descriptions may be visible, while their private bodies are kept outside this public site. A separate authenticated private reader is planned for selected writing. If it launches, this policy will be updated before that reader is used to explain its identity and access practices.
If you contact farsalo by email, the operator receives the address, message, attachments, and ordinary technical information that you or your email provider include. Please do not send sensitive information that is not needed for the conversation.
Hosting, content delivery, and security providers may process ordinary request data. This can include an IP address, browser and device details, requested URL, referring page, date and time, and diagnostic or security records. This data is used to deliver the site, detect abuse, and investigate failures.
The current public site does not run an authenticated reader. If the separate private reader is enabled, Cloudflare Access and the providers supporting its hosting, delivery, and security may process identity details, authentication events, requested private paths, policy decisions, and access or security logs. What the operator receives and how long it is retained will depend on provider and account configuration.
If you use maximum clarity or change background motion, the browser can store those choices under the local keys farsalo:clarity and lab-scenes-playing. They remain on that device unless you clear site data. They are not cookies, are not sent to farsalo, and are not used for analytics or profiling.
Your browser may also cache copies of fonts, images, and code so pages load efficiently. The current site does not intentionally set cookies.
This disclosure describes how the site and some of the work recorded here were made. AI-assisted material can contain errors, omissions, or invented details, so important claims should be independently checked.
The current public site has no visitor-facing AI prompt or upload feature. Its code does not send your reading activity, files, prompts, or email contents to a generative AI provider. Some studies describe separate experiments that used AI models. Those historical descriptions do not change the data practices of this website.
If a future public feature sends visitor information to an AI provider, this policy will be updated to explain what is sent, why, which provider receives it, how long it is kept, and what controls are available.
Information may be used to deliver and secure the site, answer correspondence, diagnose technical problems, prevent misuse, comply with law, and protect the site or other people.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, processing is based on the operator’s legitimate interests in running a secure, functional journal and responding to requested correspondence, on consent where it is specifically requested, or on a legal obligation when one applies.
farsalo does not use visitor information for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Email correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed to answer, maintain necessary records, resolve a dispute, or meet a legal obligation. Delivery and security logs are kept according to the relevant provider configuration and only for as long as needed for operations, security, or legal compliance. If the private reader is enabled, identity and access logs will likewise follow the applicable provider and account retention settings.
Local display preferences stay in your browser until you turn them off or clear site data.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or an objection to certain uses of personal information. You may also be able to withdraw consent and complain to your local data protection authority.
Send a request to hi@farsalo.com. The operator may need enough information to verify the request without collecting more than necessary.
You can remove farsalo’s local preferences at any time by turning off maximum clarity, changing the motion setting, or clearing this site’s data in your browser.
This is a general-audience journal and is not directed to children. farsalo does not knowingly request personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact hi@farsalo.com.
Reasonable safeguards appropriate to a small static site are used, and intentional data collection is kept minimal. Any future access control, including Cloudflare Access, would be a safeguard rather than a guarantee of perfect security. No internet transmission, storage system, or access control can be guaranteed completely secure.
This policy will change if the site or its data practices change. The effective date at the top will identify the latest version.
